Individual users of the Internet are quickly becoming the mechanism to develop a 'Serverless storage' online platform through the use of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks. P2P is quickly becoming the platform of choice for a variety of uses: from MP3 file swapping through the use of Napster and other programs, to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence through the SETI screen saver, and even the deployment of the latest anti-virus software over a defined network through the use of Network Associates’ latest online updates. We have recently seen large corporations such as Microsoft, IBM and EMC teaming up with such uncommon partners as DARPA and UC Berkeley to research and develop new forms of P2P networking. As this storage platform evolves, users have the ability leverage massive online resources for the storage of data files too large for their own computers.\n\nOpening the evening's events will be Kelly Truelove, Founder and CEO of Clip2. Clip2 is funded by Greylock and Lightspeed and is focused on P2P infrastructure, particularly issues of P2P performance, scalability, and impact on underlying networks. Clip2 is regularly consulted by press and analysts, including CNET, NPR, and Forrester, based on its extensive research and development work with the Gnutella and OpenNap P2P systems. Kelly is a regular contributor to O'Reilly's OpenP2P.com and was an invited speaker at last month's first O'Reilly P2P Conference and the first European P2P Forum. His insights into the world of P2P networking will be invaluable as a lead-in to the company presentation portion of our program. Kelly will offer us insights into the latest trends and uses for P2P networking.\n\nAfterwards, Jay Haynes, CEO of Static On Line will present his company before an expert panel consisting of Kelly Truelove; Randy Womack, a Partner with the venture capital firm of Greylock; Bobby Schwartz, a litigation partner and P2P expert at the from the law offices of O’Melveny and Myers; and Tony Tortorice; Partner in the Technology Group with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
