Program Description:
Numbers are making their way into all aspects of our lives.  Devices ranging from pedometers in the soles of our shoes to phones that can track our location and monitor our vital signs as we move around town are becoming increasingly capable of providing immediate feedback to help us monitor the impact of our personal lifestyle decisions on our health and wellness.  We can send data on what we eat into the cloud for analysis through sites and programs for monitoring mood, pain, blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate, cognitive alacrity, prayers, and even sleep patterns.

Use of mobile technology to enhance personal health and wellness decision making is poised to shatter the traditional doctor/patient treatment and monitoring protocols.  Moreover, the importance of emerging mobile health (mHealth) devices and tools should not be underestimated in today’s health care debate as a means of preventing disease and other adverse conditions.  A breadth of new applications are enabling access to the real-time feedback needed to help us optimize our personal health and wellness choices, and ultimately minimize our reliance on medications and institutional care.
