Speaker Biographies:

Antonio Brown, PhD, CEO, wwwatch.us. 

Antonio oversees wwwatch.us and its strategic direction.  Antonio Brown is the award-winning producer of the feature films Coffee Date (2006) and the recently released, Tru Loved (2008).  Currently, Brown is producing and co-directing the feature length documentary, Transcendence (in production) and has a number of projects in pre-production.  He founded BrownBag Productions to promote meaningful and entertaining independent films.  Antonio is a former university professor of political science whose work focused on the influence of entertainment media on political identities.  He is also the recipient of numerous academic awards and fellowships as well as a published author. 

About wwwatch.us:  WWWatch.Us is a digital entertainment platform powering a new distribution channel for independent filmmakers.  It connects audiences with emerging films over multiple mediums including internet, mobile devices, TV, DVD, kiosks and others.  It incorporates a mix of standard and emerging technologies for artists/producers to make their work available to the public and introduces new ecommerce functionality that significantly increases profit potential.  The primary vehicle to accomplish this is the WWWatch.Us website & portal, where content can be uploaded and subsequently accessed by millions of consumers in various formats.

Joe Andrieu, Founder and CEO, SwitchBook

Joe Andrieu is the Founder and CEO of SwitchBook (http://www.switchbook.com), a user-driven Search startup based in Santa Barbara, California.

Joe started SwitchBook in 2006. Prior to SwitchBook, Joe served as Technology Director at NavExcel, a UK-based adware company and was Founder and President of Realtime Drama from 1999 through 2004. He has been involved in the Internet as an entrepreneur and consultant since 1994. He founded the Internet Developers Association, which, through a series of mergers and acquisitions, became the Association of Internet Professionals.  Joe also serves as the chair of the Standards Committee for Project VRM (http://projectvrm.org), an initiative led by Doc Searls and based out of Harvard University's Berkman Center

for Internet & Society (http://cyber.law.harvard.edu).   Switchbook recently received a grant from the National Science Foundation for $500,000.00

Jim Andelman, General Partner, Rincon Venture Partners

Jim Andelman is a co-founder and General Partner of Rincon Venture Partners. Rincon focuses primarily on early stage web-based businesses that are based in Southern California.  Jim has more than fifteen years of experience in venture capital investing, technology investment banking and advisory services and strategic business consulting. 

Before founding Rincon, Jim led software and services investing for Broadview Capital Partners, a $250 million expansion-stage venture capital firm. Previously, Jim was a member of the Technology Investment Banking Group at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown with a focus on the software sector.  

  

John Issacson, Chairman, Pasadena Angels

John Isaacson is Chairman of the Pasadena Angels, a 100-member angel investing group in Pasadena. Since its inception in 2000, the Pasadena Angels have invested $15 million in 60 companies ranging from nanotechnology, hydrogen sensing, software development, and entertainment. The group’s members include former senior executives in manufacturing, engineering and finance; serial entrepreneurs; and several venture capital firms.

From 2001 to 2007, John was an Executive in Residence in the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Los Angeles where he taught courses in securities analysis. He continues as a Visiting Professor, focusing his efforts on helping students manage a $100,000 equity portfolio.

Previously, John was a Principal and Chief Investment Officer at Payden & Rygel, a Los Angeles investment counsel firm. He was responsible for overseeing the investment of $40 billion in fixed income assets as well as for strategic planning and development. Before coming to Los Angeles, John was Vice President and Head of Institutional Fixed Income Portfolio Management at the Bank of New York, and a member of the Investment Policy Committee and the Trust Investment Committee. He was also an Equity Portfolio Manager in the Institutional Investment Counsel Department and an Economist with responsibility for European macroeconomic forecasting and exchange rate forecasting. Earlier, he was an Economist at the Chase Manhattan Bank where he focused on assessing country risk in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

John sits on the Boards of Nami Media and Bluebeam Software and serves as Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Los Angeles.

John earned a BS in Economics from MIT in 1969, MA in Economics and MPhil in Economics from Yale, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
